Hall to honor top boys and girls players in GA-BHS hoops showdown

The Glynn County Sports Hall of Fame will again present Player of the Game awards following the Glynn Academy-Brunswick High basketball games set for this Friday night.

Members of the Hall of Fame Board of Directors will attend Friday’s games and select a player of the game for both the girls and boys contests.

The Hall of Fame plans to announce the honorees following the games while also recognizing them through local media outlets, social media and the Hall of Fame website where past award winners are also listed.

The game results and players of the game will also be noted on the Glynn County Schools Athletics web site.

Local sports fans are encouraged to follow the Glynn County Sports Hall of Fame on its Facebook page and also should bookmark the Hall of Fame website, www.gcshof.com, for future reference.

The girls award winner on Friday will be recognized at halftime of the boys game while the boys winner will be named immediately following the conclusion of the game between the Pirates and Red Terrors.

The Hall of Fame and the Glynn County Schools Athletics Department agreed to a partnership several years back for the Hall of Fame to recognize outstanding performances by local student-athletes in the Glynn Academy-Brunswick rivalry games in the sports of football, basketball and baseball.

This marks the sixth year of the basketball awards which are presented during the second regular-season meeting between the crosstown rivals.

Friday’s games are scheduled to be played at Brunswick High.

“The Hall of Fame is looking forward to these GA-BHS games on Friday,” said Kevin Price, Hall of Fame president. “These games showcase the local programs and student-athletes, and we’re happy to play a small role in promoting local high school athletics in our community. We enjoy recognizing our local kids for their hard work and outstanding performances as they compete for their respective teams and schools.”

The Hall of Fame is currently planning for its 2020 Induction Banquet on March 14 on Jekyll Island. The Hall is also making plans for its Ambassadors Event this spring to honor outstanding senior student-athletes from the local high schools.

More information on both events will be forthcoming. Anyone wishing to make a donation or become a sponsor for either of these events should contact the Hall of Fame through email on the Hall of Fame website.
